Student Ministries Pastor


Christ’s Church of the Valley (CCV) is seeking a Student Ministries Pastor to develop and lead the student ministry from 6th—12th grade.  This position requires a person of utmost integrity and spiritual maturity who is self-motivated and a flexible team member.  This person must have a heart for students with the ability to partner with parents and lead a team of volunteers for maximum effectiveness.  This person should be highly relational with strong execution skills and have a strong alignment with CCV’s vision, values and culture.


Christ’s Church of the Valley is an Independent Christian church, part of the Restoration Movement, and is ideally located in the growing area of Bakersfield, with five high schools and five middle schools within five miles of the church.  Bakersfield’s population continues to grow each year and CCV is addressing the growth in our area by developing plans for a new, dedicated Student Ministries Center.  We expect to break ground on this beautiful new facility by early 2024.


· Cast vision and implement ministry strategies for all aspects of student ministries.
· Provide theological and apologetic foundation in accordance with the beliefs of CCV.
· Create, develop and lead excellent environments, experiences and events where students love to be and want to invite their friends.
· Recruit, develop and coach empowered student and adult youth leaders. 
· During the week, invest in the lives of students, building relationships with them in the most effective way.
· Value and champion the relationship and influence of parents in students’ lives.
· Actively engage in connecting with guests during weekend and weekday experiences and events.
· Identify and provide ministry opportunities for teens.
· Create, oversee and manage a student ministry budget.
· Lead the creative use and proactive upkeep of student ministry rooms and resources.


· Regularly meet with and report to the Senior Pastor.
· Carry out other pastoral duties as required in the life of the church as determined by the Senior Pastor.
· Participate in church-wide events and lend assistance and support to the total church program.


· Driving passion for leading students into a fully devoted relationship with Jesus Christ
· Positive, outgoing personality - likes to have fun
· Effective multi-tasker with self-motivated work style
· Solid track record of consistently planning, communicating and following through
· Prayerful disposition, gentle and humble character
· Effective time management and planning
· Able to communicate effectively with CCV staff and parents


· Must be a baptized (immersed) believer
· Meet Elder qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
· Fully believe and support the entire Bible as God’s Word
· Understand the Restoration Movement as it relates to and is faithful to scripture
· Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from a Bible College/University or Seminary (Restoration Movement preferred)
